3 Tips For Whiter Teeth This Summer

With school out, now is a great time to focus on making your teeth as white as possible. Here are three easy habits that will help you get the smile you always wanted.

#1 Brush & Floss Daily

The best way to get whiter teeth is to brush and floss your teeth on a daily basis. You should first use a cavity fighting toothpaste in the morning to be sure that you are fighting off the bacteria that could cause your teeth to decay and develop serious teeth issues down the line.

Then, later in the day, you should use a tooth whitening toothpaste. Although a tooth whitening toothpaste is not going to make your teeth shine, it will help make your teeth whiter. Tooth whitening toothpaste contains tiny abrasive particles that are specifically designed to remove build up from your teeth. The removal of this build-up will keep your teeth white and in good shape.

#2 Try Using Oil

Next, to improve the whiteness and general health of your teeth you should try coconut oil pulling. Coconut oil is the best type of oil to use because it provides so many benefits to your body outside of improving the health of your teeth, and you may get to enjoy some of these benefits just by engaging in oil pulling with coconut oil. For example, coconut oil can also improve your digestion and it can balance your hormones.

What you need to do is put about a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth before you eat or drink anything. You are going to then gently swish the oil around inside of your mouth for anywhere from ten to twenty minutes. You do not want to swish too vigorously, you don't want to wear out your jaw and cheek muscles, just do so gently. When you are done, spit the oil into the trash can and rinse your mouth with warm water. Next, brush your teeth just like you normally wood. Do this a couple of times a week and you will notice that your teeth look brighter, your breath smells better and your overall dental health improves.

#3 Avoid Strong Colored Foods

Finally, try to cut out strong colored foods that dye and stain your teeth. For example, coffee and tea are both drinks that can stain your teeth. Tomato sauce and other tomato based products can both stain your teeth and the acid in them can eat away at your enamel. Adult beverages such as wine, especially red wine, can also stain your teeth. If you can't resist a morning coffee or tea, try to drink it through a straw to avoid the staining effects of these drinks as much as you possible can.

Enjoy the time while you are out of school and start investing in habits that will make your smile whiter for the new school year. If you really want to make your teeth bright, speak to your dentist, one like Suncoast Dental Center, about having professional teeth whitening done to your teeth.
